The art of suggestion… Clare’s boudoir experience

Boudoir 033 The art of suggestion... Clares boudoir experience

What is boudoir photography?

There are many different styles of boudoir photography, with the results and experience varying.  My take on boudoir is elegance and beauty. Forget glamour models and mens’ mags, these images are for sophisticated women, where a suggestion says so much more…

The shoots are designed to be very relaxed and lots of fun.

Who is boudoir photography for?

From my perspective, a boudoir shoot is always primarily for the woman taking part. I want to make you feel special and confident. Many women use it as a confidence booster and a treat. Women often comment that it is nice to do something just for themselves. Many want to capture their body to look back on the images in years to come. If you have a partner and want to share the shots with them that is great – but YOU are my focus and it’s most important to me that you have a great experience, fantastic memories of the day and images you will enjoy looking at for years to come.

Where is the shoot?

My boudoir shoots are usually arranged at a city centre hotel. This ensures we have absolute privacy and ensures luxurious surroundings for the images. (Shoots can be done elsewhere on request)

Dates are released with a number of sessions available for that day.

To receive a notification of the next dates for shoots, please drop me a note via the “contact clare” tab.

Alternatively, I can come to your home or a location you select. This means you can select a date that suits you.

Who is at the shoot?

Usually just me  - a female photographer and a female stylist in a separate room. I try to keep the number of people in the room to a minimum to avoid distractions and ensure you are completely relaxed.

How long is the shoot?

The shoot lasts for 2 hours.  This allows us enough time to have a chat about what you want from your images before we start and allows time for changes of outfit during the shoot.

How much do I need to bare?

My take on boudoir is that it is about the art of suggestion so this is really up to you. You can have a successful shoot without showing much flesh at all. Check out the boudoir gallery to see how I use bed sheets, pillows, jackets and shirts – often there is not much flesh showing at all but the images still look seductive and luxurious. Obviously if you are confident and are happy to pose in your undies that is fine too – it’s just not compulsory.

I’m worried about posing, it’s not really me.

I work with regular women, not models. I help you get into the most flattering position and then guide you to help get the right look and expression. There’s no rush and if something isn’t working for you then we can just try something else.

What do I need to bring? How many outfits?

There is usually time for 2 or 3 outfits but accessories can be added throughout the shoot to ensure variety in the images.

Clients must bring their own underwear and shoes but I provide jackets, shirts, jewellery, hats, pillows, glasses, books (and whatever else grabs me as a great idea!) as props. That said, bringing your own accessories can help make the shoot much more personal for you. Why not showcase gifts or favourite items (I’ll make sure we get the red soles of your Louboutins in!!) If you have a partner then featuring one of their items – a tie, a rudby shirt etc can make it fun and personal. It’s better to bring more with you, rather than less, even if you don’t use it all.

What underwear works best?

To make the shoot special it is best to use underwear that you perhaps wouldn’t normally wear day-to-day. Stockings and suspenders work well but hold ups work just as well if you find suspenders a little fiddly! Nighties work well too – they help provide a variety of looks and also help you cover up if you don’t feel comfortable to show certain areas of your body. When you book, you will receive an information pack with lots more helpful suggestions and tips to help you prepare and get the most out of the shoot.

Who sees the images?

Me and you. The images are available to view on a password protected website. No images are used elsewhere without your prior written consent.

What can I purchase?

At the shoot you will be able to view the range of products which include portrait boxes, framed images and albums. All products are of the highest quality and are the most sought after in the photographic industry. All items are hand made to order. Digital images can also be purchased.

Can I come with a friend?

Yes of course. Bringing a friend can help make the day more fun. You are welcome to have a friend in the room during the shoot but I limit this to just one friend as the room starts to get too busy. The ideal situation is to come with your friend but then leave each other during the shoot once you are comfortable. Experience has shown me that people actually relax more once on their own. If you are coming as a group and all want your photographs taken then you need to book a shoot each. Shoots cannot be shared.

How do I book a session?

Call me or drop me a note and once we’ve confirmed a date and time I will send you a link to pay online to secure the booking. This is to ensure that you get the time and date you want and that spaces are not double booked.

What if I can’t make the next shoot date?

Please drop me a line and let me know you would like a shoot. I will do my best to get another date arranged as soon as possible that suits you. Dates are influenced by the demand from clients.

More info…

Once you book you will be sent a preparation pack containing all the information about how to get there, what to bring, how to prepare etc

If you have any questions before booking do not hesitate to contact me to have a chat. Cx
