Clare’s story…

Hello and welcome,

Thanks for checking out my work.

I am an experienced, professional photographer, with a Masters degree in fine art photography (University of West London). I have also trained with some of the finest portrait photographers in the world.

I am a people photographer, specialising in babies and young children, with a separate business ( for my other passion, Boudoir Photography.

I offer luxury, bespoke, portrait experiences. I have built my reputation by offering beautiful images taken in a relaxed and natural manner – with some fun along the way.

Photographing people is about making them feel comfortable, bringing out the best in them, understanding what they want to get out of the pictures, as well as having the knowledge and experience to get all the technical aspects of photography and post production spot on. (Check out what my clients say about their experiences)

I also pride myself in presenting my work as beautiful, finished art pieces, using only the best suppliers from around the world.

So here’s my story…

The explorer

I grew up in Essex, England, went to university in Sheffield in the north of England and then headed off travelling to Central and South America. Travelling has always been a big part of  my life – my current tally is over 40 countries and I hope to keep on counting! Travelling was how I fell in love with photography and now my love of photography feeds my love of travel. I love meeting different people in different places and trying to capture what I see and feel and then share it with other people. You can check out some of my personal work taken during my travels here.

Loving the light

After travelling I moved to Edinburgh, Scotland for my first job. Living there really changed the way I looked at the world around me – I didn’t have to be in a new place each day to see beauty  –  here I learnt to seek out beautiful light and interesting subjects in our everyday lives.

Inspired by art

My previous job took me to China and I was fortunate to live next door to an amazing artist  – Eleanor Kotlarik Wang. Through Eleanor I learnt the work that goes into a piece of art, the vision and inspiration required. I learnt to find my creative side, communicate through my work and develop my own style. I continue to be inspired by other artists, I enjoy going to art exhibitions and I love the network of artists I met through my Masters course and my commercial work. (I owe you a lot Eleanor!!)

Setting up shop

I started my photography business in Blackheath, London and then moved to Zurich in 2011 with my husband where I really enjoyed working with clients from lots of different cultures. We were joined by our very own bundle of joy, Abigail, in 2013. Becoming a mother myself has helped bring a new aspect to my photography and of course I produce a lot of personal work to record and preserve our special family memories.

In January 2015, we decided to head back to our roots and are now in Gidea Park, Essex (well, it’s actually the London Borough of Havering as someone kindly corrected me on a blog post!)

The new studio in Gidea Park will be open by Easter 2015. I look forward to welcoming many new local clients, and returning London clients.

The best job in the world

My business is now over 5 years old and  I have never been happier or more proud of what I do – I really do think I have the best job in the world (well, for me anyway!) I get to meet amazing people and share many happy occasions in people’s lives.

I hope I get to meet you and record your joyful stories too.
